Create a sculptural form using bamboo and cane. Leave it as a sculpture or cover with paper to create a lantern. Participants will be instructed with the simple techniques of assemblage, and construction in bamboo and cane. Lanterns may be left white or painted with subtle colours and patterns that create a coloured glow with internal lighting. This easy, non-toxic process allows for the creation of any simple contained form e.g animals, sea creatures or abstract shapes. Everyone works on their own project in their own time. No experience required.
By the end of the course the student will be able to
- Construct a form using bamboo, cane and paper
- Create a hanging mechanism for the lantern
- Cover the form with paper and glue to complete the form.
What will students take home?
Students will take home a sculptural lantern or sculptural form they can hang up at home
