Tannya Harricks
Resume
Tannya lives and works in Sydney and her art practice is based in drawing and painting both en plein air and in the studio. She paints intuitively and without premeditation, intent on capturing the energy of the subject through spontaneous gesture. Quintessentially Australian landscapes and scenes are reimagined in the manipulation of colour and form. She is interested in the enigmatic process of painting itself as much as the subject.
Tannya has had works exhibited in Australia, New Zealand and Florence and has been awarded both the Waverley Art Prize (2013) and Hornsby Art Prize (2012). She has also been a finalist in many prominent art awards around Australia including the Gallipoli Art Prize (2012), Mosman Art Prize (2014, 2013), the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, S.A (2013), the Muswellbrook Art Prize (2015, 2013), and the Gold Coast Art Prize, Qld (2012).
Tannya’s approach to teaching encourages artists of all levels to be confident in exploring their own individualistic and distinctive interpretation of any subject.
