Lisa McKimmie

Lisa McKimmie is a practising professional visual artist with a focus on painting and drawing in a variety of media. Currently Lisa is based in a studio with One Plus 2 Studios, Balmain.
Lisa is a visual arts graduate of WAAPVA, Edith Cowan University, a printmaking graduate of the National Art School and earned her Master of Visual Art postgraduate degree at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW. As an artist Lisa has delved into (and been quite distracted by) public art workshops, fringe festival and parade, set painting, plein air street drawing, safety and sustainability in the visual arts, and the history and chemistry of art materials.
Lisa McKimmie also has a postgraduate diploma in Secondary Education from Monash University and is a NESA registered teacher in NSW.
In 2020, after twenty years of travel and living in the UK, Borneo, Singapore and The Netherlands, Lisa returned to Sydney to live and make art. In 2021, after a successful solo exhibition in January with Gaffa Gallery, her works were shortlisted for the National Capital Art Prize, Paddington Art Prize, Portia Geach Memorial Award (third time shortlisted), Blacktown City Art Prize, Calleen Art Prize, Fisher’s Ghost Art Award and The Grace Cossington Smith Art Award. Recently Lisa was awarded Runner Up in the Remagine Eco Art Prize, completed a residency at the BigCi in the Blue Mountains, and was a semi-finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize.
Prior to leaving Australia Lisa worked with contemporary galleries in East Sydney and the Inner West. In 2000/2001 Lisa lectured and delivered adult seminars on Visual Arts Professional Practice at the National Art School, East Sydney.
Lisa is currently represented by Flinders Street Gallery.
